ABOUT ARTI
At ARTI we offer affordable, original vintage art mainly from the first half of the 20th century, and give contemporary artists a platform for their work.
Based in London and the Cotswolds, we sell online, offer private viewings at our studio and clients’ own homes, and take part in interiors events and pop-ups throughout the year.
ARTI is curated by Gretchen Shoring and Tess Gomm, two friends who have worked together for many years running an advertising production company. At the tail end of a big commercial shoot, admiring the art sourced for the set, an idea was born. Why not turn our passion for collecting art into a business sourcing and selling to private clients and interior designers as well as to set dressers. And so ARTI was born.
“We’ve always been collectors and we were also sourcing for shoots. This seemed like a natural progression because we were both running out of wall space.” says Tess.
The result is a wonderfully eclectic collection of original art for sale, which can be found here online, as well as at select stores and fairs.
ARTI’s customers range from people just starting their art collections, to interior designers sourcing for clients and set stylists looking for cleared art for film, TV and photoshoots. Recent projects include the Pig Hotel in the Cotswolds, the revamp of a Surrey inn, a bespoke collection for a London apartment and art hires for the sets of a new series of hit HBO TV show Industry and a top secret Netflix show.
Because of our background we understand the special requirements needed to use art on set, so stylists know they won’t have any issues with the works in our Art for Hire selection.
So what’s so special about vintage art in particular?
Characterful and cultural; emotive and eco-friendly; unique and timeless – what’s not to love about original vintage art?
Whether you live in a modern loft space, an urban family home, or a cosy cottage, vintage paintings add irresistible charm. One of the special things about an antique or vintage painting is the story it tells - it’s already lived a life somewhere. There are often clues to that story - marks, patination, old repairs, writing on the reverse. Someone cared - these are stories rooted in humanity.
Buying vintage is the epitome of sustainability – a wonderful way to reduce waste by reusing and repurposing existing resources. It’s a win-win for art-lovers and the planet.
Affordability is also key to what we offer - an original work of art needn’t cost much and it’s a smart investment.
Consultations We offer free-of-charge, personal consultations, often meeting clients in their own homes to see their colour palette, the light, wall space and any existing art, taking along paintings from our collection to show what will work well in situ. If meeting in person isn’t possible, we schedule a call to talk through likes and dislikes, and create mood boards to show the look and feel.
Sourcing We can source art to a brief - we go out and find the perfect pieces for both residential and commercial projects, pulling together complete gallery walls in a mix of medias, or art collections for entire homes.
Viewings We can bring a selection to view at your home or business - often seeing the art in the place where it is intended to hang is a great way of planning what works best. Alternatively, you can come to us.
Frames Most of our art is vintage, and we like to keep the existing frames whenever possible as it’s part of the original look, and of course also good for the planet. We repaint some frames, and can match colours with interior schemes on request. If reframing is preferred, we can arrange this too.
Shipping We offer free shipping in the UK. If you are an international buyer, please email art@arti-ones.co.uk for shipping rates.
Vintage art Our paintings often bear some marks from the passage of time and can be beautifully faded with chipped frames. We e see this as an advantage and hope you will too.
We look forward to hearing from you.
